The weekend

This weekend I was going to go to the country but instead stayed in Sydney. It was pretty low key but I had a lot of fun. On Saturday it was super hot Tom and I planned to go to the Power House museum but instead took Billy for a walk, went to the Rozelle market and ended up in China town.

She almost had it.


The market is mostly second hand stuff. I found this chair and I plan to make it a tiny octo slip cover. It's about 3" high.

Sydney's China town is way nicer than way other ones I've seen. I need to get some more pics. I enjoyed this sign.

Instead of lots of crazy stalls outside they have a huge mall. You walk through the arches into a maze of stalls and in on the other side is the food market. It was pretty neat.

This is the entrance to the main street in Chinatown it's across from the mall.

To get back to Balmain from the city we have to go past the Town hall. Beside that is the fanciest building in Sydney. It's a shopping mall called the Queen Victoria Building (everyone here just says QVB) I'm going to take pictures of the inside soon. It's got mosaic floors and some domes. And a statue of Queen Vicky.

Near Vicky's statue is this. It makes me laugh every time I walk by it.

On Sunday Tom's friend Evan met us with his nephew James. Our job was to keep him entertained for the afternoon. So we took him to the park and made some films. He was really funny and reminded me of Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. Very bright and totally hyper.

This is one of the first glass things that I've made, it's just a test in kiln slumping. We're just getting into our projects now. Very fun. :)


Today I came across this in a lane way.

It's been raining all morning and normally I'd be a bit put out but when in China town I picked up some new rain boots.. they are called gum boots here.
