Ok caterpillar update. I made video of it eating a leaf. It's a little long, but it's crazy to see just how fast it can go through a plant. Click here to watch it. Right as Tom and I were about to put the caterpillar outside I spotted another one. A smaller one.
A little size comparison of both. The big one had quite the grip on the basil.
The little one had one amazing feature I'd never seen before. It was flashing. I made a quick video of here. I'm not sure what it was that caused it.

Later I had the feeling that there might be more some where amongst the leaves. And right away I spotted the tiniest one yet.
